Rate and Write a Review The only ruined thing you'll see at Maya is the memories of all the Mexican restaurants you used to go to. Even without its legendary bar -- which pours out over 100 types of tequilas and serves rock-bowled homemade guacamole -- Acapulco-native chef-owner Richard Sandoval's upscale eatery is hands down one of the finest in the city. Combining hands-up festivities with low-key intimacy, the Chapultepec dining room is hued in light pastels, with wooden floors, iron stools and authentic folk art and artifacts. Choices abound, but start with pulpo Azteca (crispy octopus with roasted plantains) and zucchini quesadillas, move on to tamarind glazed tuna or Tampiquena (grilled butterflied filet mignon), and finish with rice pudding or caramelized banana cheesecake. Romantic and celebratory, it'll take at least 25 visits to sample all the tequila. Sandoval also runs Pampano with Placido Domingo. -- Yon Motskin
