When you imagine dinner at a sexy but grown-up Tribeca boite, you're thinking of Landmarc. Chef Marc Murphy's bi-level space is just glamorous enough to feel special while remaining just down-to-earth enough to be unintimidating, with exposed brick and metal retaining the space's industrial flavor while mirrors and burnished golden light flood the the place with a seductive blush. Murphy is what you'd call a chef's chef, and his Italian- and French-influenced American menu at Landmarc comprises foodie-bait dishes like roasted marrow bones with onion marmalade or crispy sweetbreads with horseradish as well as major crowd-pleasers like a grilled pork chop with caramelized onions and apples or a choice of steak cuts with a range of sauces from green peppercorn to bearnaise to shallot bordelaise. Landmarc is also famous for offering wines by the half-bottle at the price you'd pay for a glass (or quartino) elsewhere. Even the full-size bottles benefit from a very gentle markup, so you can end that sexy dinner with a very underdressed check.
