Perhaps someone should petition politicians to offer a plate of shawarma and a bowl of brown lentil soup to the conflicted sides in the Middle East; it might take their minds off matters for a short while. Politics aside, this low-key Lebanese restaurant in Bay Ridge attracts all walks of life seeking its good, cheap, cheap Lebanese food. The atmosphere is low-rent cool, with Arabic wall stylings and a simple formica counter. There are only a few tables, which means most foodies usually opt for takeout or a seat at one of the outdoor tables, a fine arrangement considering 99 percent of the customers have already eaten their lamb or chicken sandwiches before they've paid for it. Other scents and flavors include garlic, baba ganoush, baklava, and fresh-squeezed OJ and lemonade. The days when they served exotic animal organs (brain, stomach) may be over, but for these low prices on everything else, it's hard to complain.
