Perhaps the best Salvadoran spot in New York, Izalco has a bright home under the elevated Number 7 train to Flushing. Once inside this neat, cozy restaurant, try the tangy chopped beef appetizer called salpicon, pastelitos filled with beef or chicken, creamy cheese- or meat-filled pupusas or the dense, tasty tamales with either chicken or sweet French corn.

Terrible

This place has some of the worst food I've ever tasted. The tacos and the pupusas were super greasy on the outside and dry as a bone on the inside. Just awful. My friend ordered the steak with onions which was actually very good, however, it could not make up for everything else. This is my first experience with Salvadoran food and I was not impressed.

Excellent food and very friendly people. Potentially romantic if you're with the right person.=0) This was my introduction to Salvadoran food and I've never found anything like it.
