The large window of this little LES storefront is framed by press clippings; in New York, that's a sign of good things to come. Twelve flavors greet you up front, and each one looks more delicious than the next. The "laboratory" is in full view in back, concocting new flavors for clients big and small, but never batches in large quantities, emphasizing the focus on quality. Gelato and sorbeto flavors change constantly -- some come and go with the seasons like fig and Fuji apple, while classic favorites like chocolate chocolate chip rotate with pistachio and green tea. More flavors are available daily in take home pints. Top off with homemade hot fudge sauce and fresh whipped cream, the latter of which is the traditional Italian topping. Other menu items include espresso milkshakes and ice coffee with coffee ice cubes, proving that no small matter is overlooked here. Owner Jon Snyder, the original inventor and owner of Ciao Bella before it went national, brings back to Manhattan -- to great joy -- his zest for gelato.
