Much as 'Pirates of the Caribbean' honors the hoary literary tradition of fashioning films after theme park rides, Hawaiian Tropic Zone the restaurant/bar/lounge is modeled after the suntan lotion. Where to go from there? As discreet as P. Diddy and modest as Donald Trump, this Times Square tri-level pleasure paradise is actually a fine dining destination with a menu by David Burke (davidburke & donatella). Get past the bikini beauty pageants on the ground floor catwalk, the bump n' grind video art on the giant screens, the Nicole Miller boutique store, the sprawling Jeffrey Beers-designed space, the throbbing DJs -- and you might find some intimacy. The vaguely Asian menu features grass-fed veal chop picatta, sweet pumpkin ravioli, and crispy oysters with 'sexed-up' Russian dressing and caviar garnish. Unabashedly hedonistic, think of it as a refined Hooters meets a more cultured ESPN Zone.
