Rate and Write a Review Argentina is where most of world's real cowboys still exist, and nobody knows good meat like a cowboy. Hacienda de Argentina serves its grass-fed beef in the "Argentinean style," as the country's beef, like many other countries', is still not allowed into the U.S. It is cooked slowly, so that almost the entire cut comes out at the desired temperature, as opposed to just the center, but still with the mouth-watering charred outside. It's served unadorned but for slices of pimiento and a tangy, garlicky chimichurri sauce on the side, which is so explosively flavorful it could make a pile of pen caps taste good. The menu includes chicken, sea bass, ribs, sausage and sweet breads in addition to the different cuts of beef, and can be matched by diners' choice of vegetables, and a variety of simple, fresh salads. And the flan is spectacular: eggy, and topped with oozing dulce de leche. It couldn't get more authentic; chef Patricia Douek Pirotte just arrived fresh from her presidency of the Foundation de Gastronomica Iberoamericana in Buenos Aires. The room itself is a cozy, countryside version of regal, full of different styles of high-backed leather chairs, heavy oak tables, candelabras, and intricately framed mirrors, in a unique style of what could be called "cowboy royal." -- Dan Glass
