Rate and Write a Review This elegant, American-accent French restaurant owned by Danny Meyer (Union Square Cafe, Gramercy Tavern and others) got a jolt of creative jus from the 2006 menu revamp under executive chef Daniel Humm, replacing Kerry Heffernan. The highly seasonal, ever-changing cuisine tends toward simple, time-tested combinations tweaked with appealing modern touches -- fish with spring garden peas and mint, foie gras with golden raisins, poached poularde with black truffle. This is mature food for a mature clientele, and the angular Art Deco style is appropriate for the squat majesty of the former MetLife building. Private, balcony-level dining rooms overlooking the main room are also available.

scrumptous
From the cheese puff and sour dough bread to the unbelievable chocolate desert, everything was perfect!
Mediocre
Food was thimble-sized and mediocre, leaving out the mussles in the monkfish dish. Service was inattentive, at no time did anyone ask about how my wife and I like our food. Dessert was the only saving grace. Don't waste your money.
Don't Bother
An extremely disappointing experience. How it ever received such high Zagat ratings is unimaginable. Service was poor. Food was mediocre, at best. My sweetbreads were salty and lamb entree was nothing special. A good chocolate souffle and beautiful decor could not make up for what was an entirely underwhelming experience. There are far better choices than this. Don't bother going.
