Rate and Write a Review Food ranking: 3/5 Wine ranking: 2/5 A sparse and unassuming trattoria, such as one might find in Tuscany, with a very capable kitchen. White beans with sage and garlic, roasted potatoes with thyme and parmesan cheese, pappa al pomodoro. There are five excellent pizzas prepared in a brick oven including standards like the Margherita and less conventional combinations like anchovies, capers, tomato sauce, and garlic. Tagliatelle with leek, tomato, and rosemary sauce, spinach lasagna with ricotta, truffle scented quail with grilled polenta, pork chops with fennel oil, tiramisu.

CP's Review
An extrordinarily hot June evening led to a very cool meal that was lite enough not be overwhelming but satisfying enough to make me say that I would return to this unpretentious Italian restaurant. It was truly brutal outside but the interior of Col Legno cooled us off and put us in the mood for Polenta con funghi which was a very slightly salty but still very nice. We also had fresh Mozzarella with fresh Tomatoes which was cooling and just right. The Mozzarella was by the way had the right creaminess and slight firmness that made it a treat. We shared 1 order of a wide home made egg noodle with a Wild Boar, tomato, and Rosemary sauce that was excellent and very real Italian cooking. The two appetizers and the one pasta was enough for us to know that I want to return to Col Legno on a cooler night with a larger appetite. Bravo for Col Legno. The service was very friendly and professional. The bill was under $40 with each of us having a glass of red wine and tip. They also make some beautiful brick oven pizza.
