Wait a minute, where are the trays with the little sections like in a TV dinner? And there's no lady with a hair net and big messy kitchen spoon behind the counter either. But there is comfort food served 24/7 in huge portions. Cafeteria does have the required mac and cheese, hamburgers and meatloaf, as well as upper-crusty dishes like crispy-skin Atlantic salmon with pickled beets and horseradish vinaigrette. All are served with an upscale presentation that belies the surprisingly reasonable prices. The decor is where it gets more cafeteria-like: The large room is white, with a stylishly institutional feel, and features huge glass garage doors that let in tons of light and refreshing breezes in the warmer months. Every variety of New Yorker can be found here, from executives at lunch to Soho types at night to hipsters and local Chelsea folk in the wee hours. Big bonus: They serve breakfast all day. -- Dan Glass

The Best Mac & Cheese!
By oasisopal on 01/06/2008
You must try their mac and cheese. It is absolutely the best I've ever tasted. Nice casual atmosphere. Close to shopping and transit.

Best late night food

Cafeteria is the spot for late night eating. Try the burger or the mac and cheese and go home happy.

Post VMA's

After a night of star-studded hype and all the Bling-Bling, I found myself at Cafeteria. As most New Yorkers know that this is the place to go for really GREAT Late Night Eats, well, it seems that several celebrities share the same feeling. I found myself dining along side Puff Daddy, Paris Hilton and my favorite "FALL OUT BOYS"... You go Cafeteria! it still looks like your the Hot Spot Restaurant to go to...

FABULOUS
By swiftyo5 on 05/27/2006
Definately my favorite place in the city. I go to college at St John's and at least twice a week me and my three best friends take a late night adventure out to Cafeteria for mac and cheese and coconut mojitos. Totally fabulolus!
