Small and compact, BarBossa makes the most of its square space with a scattering of tables and a wraparound bar. The black-and-white tile floors, cafe-style chairs and flower accents give it a fun, Euro-tropical feel. Located on Elizabeth Street, the hottest property in Soho, BarBossa mingles with jewelry boutiques and haute couture installations, but remains decidedly more laid-back than its fussy neighbors. On a nice day, the front opens up to the street and beckons you in for a respite with an ice-cold Pacifico and cool (or warm, if that's how you like it) ginger soup. The inexpensive menu blends Brazilian, Italian and Spanish cuisines to come up with creative but simple fare like avocado-and-shrimp curry, a chicken club with pancetta, gruyere and arugula, and a flavorful steak sandwich coated in melted Roquefort cheese.
