The ubiquitous Bobby Flay -- whose Americana empire includes the Flatiron's Mesa Grill and Bolo and the TV show 'Boy Meets Grill' -- has turned to the now-classic New York staple, the brasserie, for his first restaurant foray since Bolo. Formerly JUdson Grill, this 200+-seat space, designed by the equally ubiquitous David Rockwell, includes a long cocktail bar and a raw bar. The salon's cuisine is high-class comfort food and re-imagined regional recipes for restless foodies. That means lots of meat and seafood, like slow-smoked pork chops with mustard-bourbon barbecue sauce and creamy green-onion grits, Puget Sound mussels and a Pacific Northwest cioppino with Dungeness crab. Expect to experience Flay's familiar flavorful, rich experience.

very chique but casual
Was taken there by my daughter who is a professional chef and graduated the same culinary school as Bobby Flay.The preparation and presentation of the food was excellent and the service was friendly and attentive.
EXCEPTIONAL
I loved this place. Very polite and attentive wait staff. Excellent signiture drinks like the whiskey smask, and the food was out of this world.
Can't wait to go back
I came here with my parents and so glad I made the right choice. The dinner was fun and the food was fabulous.
We could have just been happy eating all the apps. The grilled pizza was a winner. We even ordered another one, it was that good. We also loved the hot blue cheese and chips. Even the bread basket was great.
For dinner, we had the skate (I don't even like fish and I devoured my mom's dish), ribeye and snapper.
No room for dessert. Have to go back.
As Good As It Gets
Not sure what restauant these other people were at,but Bar Americain has great food combined with great service. A truly wonderful dining experience including a magnificent,imaginative vegetarian plate for my daughter.
