Poor Seating Arrangement.... 03/15/2007
My date and I were given a seat for two alongside the large communal table. As the group at the communal table stood standing next their friends who were seated, they closed off a very narrow space between my table and themselves. As everyone from guests to servers continuously passed through this confined space there backsides hovered over our dinner, it really became annoying. Three times one man was pleasant enough to pass through dragging his leather jacket over the rim of our spicy chicken and sticky rice ( the second time his jacket actually touched the rice). Still calm I let it go as my date and I proceeded just to salvage the night and continue the date ( w/o finishing the entree of course ). After 10 more minutes of this rude standing over our table with nothing but gluteus maximus in our seated line of site I finally asked the group to please step aside and take up the plenty of available space to the left or right to our table but to no avail as all I received was a chuckle. At that point we decided just to get out of there. Asking to receive the check from a second waiter in which we were assigned this evening, I did mention to him what happened the entire evening and the position we were placed in. At that point the Manager Mr.Porichis came to the table to apologize and told me he will see what he can do to remedy the situation. Point blank the remedy was 1 appetizer removed from the bill. Bill was now a $ 102 with a $38 tip total cost of $140. I did not want the comped appetizer or even a comped napkin for that matter. A seat where everyone is not standing above my date and I would have been suffice. Her birthday dinner...yes would have better been spent at home, thanks Asia de Cuba! A high volume restaurant that will never be in the red chose to put it's new customers in a very uncomfortable position during dinner. If you were wondering, there where plenty of seats and a couple of booths available, james
only for drinks and dessert 05/13/2005
Loved the "bay of pigs" crazy icecream banana boat concoction.. and hip drink cocktails. But for the price you pay you imagaine that the chairs wouldnt be rickety, the glasses chipped, the waitstaff learing at you or that you would find hair in the calamari salad!!!

Very nice place to go with lots of friends. Food was great. Don't go crazy and order alot. Their plates are enough for two.. LEAVE room for desert. LOVE IT.

After having the bad luck of dining at Caviar and Banana and listening to the freakish GM Melisa I decided to try this at a friends request better than C&B but still not worth the time

the food is good, the scene is fun, if u are new to the city! the wait staff doesn't bend over backwards as they once did. they do not honor reservations times at all, they keep u waiting.
then they seem to rush you thru dinner and encourage u strongly to put the full order as soon as possible. it used to be a really fun place to go to, now it feels old and dried up. i do still like the food alot.
