There are dives...and theres the Marz Bar. Pushing open the blood red door is like landing on another planet--or looking under a rock, depending whom you ask. A slew of strange paintings stares down from the dirty walls, while an even stranger, dirtier mix of clientele looks up from the strongest drinks in the East Village. A jukebox stocked with punk, blues, country and reggae provides the fittingly eclectic soundtrack. Sip your drink and watch the characters come and go: tattooed punks, downtrodden old-timers, artsy college students, foreign tourists--you never know who will walk in next.
