The Scoop: A quiet, musty little place with its own special charm, this bookstore has an inventory of collector records and vintage books as well as lightly used contemporary cassettes, CDs and videos. Vinyl selections include classical, New Age, world, pop, easy listening, blues and jazz. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker and other greats are well represented, along with more obscure masterpieces like Elizabeth Taylor's recording debut. Browsing here for that out-of-print treasure is a nostalgic and quirky trip through literary and popular history. The Scene: Conveniently located inside Prospect Mall, this bookstore is among a number of small shops and restaurants. Aging hippies, college students and funky bookworms frequent this modest store. Bookcases brimming with dusty volumes climb to the very top of the shop's high ceiling. How books are retrieved from such an altitude is a mystery. Insider Tips: Books are separated into sections by genre, but may not be alphabetized. If you are searching for a particular title, call ahead or check the bookstore's Web site. Their most notable titles are listed online. -- Allison Jornlin
