After crowded Bradford and McKinley beaches, Shorewood's Atwater may well be the Milwaukee lakefront's most popular swimming beach. Located at the spot where East Capitol Drive ends at Lake Drive, Atwater's stunning bluffs and panoramic views make it a great spot for a picnic or a first kiss. It's also the town beach for Shorewood, which means it's staffed separately from Milwaukee County Park's beaches, so there are lifeguards on duty whenever the beach is open.

Fantastic views, steep hike up and down to the beach, usually quiet, and corection to listing - NO campground. This is a city park with a small grass area overlook and a 'tot lot' playground, not a campground
