Tucked away next to a glazed-ham shop in a mall on Madison's West Side is the Old Town Pub, a chummy bar and restaurant that caters to a diverse crowd. Around since 1990, the pub offers a tasty menu of homemade soups, salads, chili, burgers and sandwiches. Their "Crab Busters," cheese balls, and scallop nuggets are perfect to wash down your beer with (or is that the other way around?). Sure, the friendly waiter may double as the fry cook, but who knows -- maybe he'll even usher at your wedding. There are comfortable booths, sports on the satellite TV (though they're not too blaring), plus darts and pinball for those who want to keep things moving. No need to watch a Cheers rerun for the umpteenth time, when you can live an episode at the Old Town Pub. -- Lex Lonehood
