Say you want to go out for a drink, but you think there's a "contract" out on you. Well, head down an underground tunnel to The Bar Next Door. An old mobster safe house, the bar still retains unique features from its 1929 incarnation such as bulletproof glass and round lookout rooms. And hey, they've even got Frank Sinatra on the jukebox! But the cozy atmosphere also provides the perfect option for those just out for a good time (it's especially convenient for dropping in before or after shows at the Coliseum). Earlier in the evening, things are mellow -- as the night goes on, the crowd gets a little rowdier. Formerly known as the Madison Cigar Bar, the emphasis has shifted away from stogies, though they still can be purchased at the bar. -- Lex Lonehood
