The heart of the UW campus, Memorial Union offers a variety of enjoyable options that are available to the public. If you're seeking a beer, you'll want to start off at the Stiftskeller, which has a great selection from various microbreweries (but if you lack a student ID, you'll need to get a guest pass to purchase alcohol from the information desk). Like the adjacent Rathskeller, where a lot of students come to study and socialize, the Stiftskeller has the feel of a comfy German tavern. On the weekends the Rathskeller often features live bands, and in the warmer months the outdoor terrace is open.
