Louisvilles live music hub hosts most of the rock bands that pass through town. About 600 people can squeeze into the nightclub, and it appeals to a broad spectrum of fans. Reasonably big-name bands play here, while virtual unknowns take the stage on weeknights or before the headliner. It's a popular tour spot for up-and- coming regional bands and a favorite for local performers. Located in the center of the action and easily accessible from any major highway, its big and busy but not pretentious. Music is the only reason people come here. The place doesnt even serve food. Most think thats a good thing, because it takes the entire supper club/lounge vibe away from the proceedings. You dont sip Cosmos and listen to jazz here; you down beers and groove out to good, old-fashioned rock-and-roll. -- Lena Katz
