Tesoro is one of those places that many downtown high-rise workers and theater-goers regard as their own little treasure. Located in the picturesque fountain court of California Plaza, this trattoria is stylishly decked out in polished mahogany, etched glass and tasteful artwork. The Tuscan-inspired menu offers an array of familiar specialties such as calamari fritti, tuna carpaccio, Caesar salad, pizzas, veal Marsala and tiramisu, all very respectably prepared. It's an easy walk from here to the Music Center.

Great food and service. Loved the waterfall in the patio. Try the Halibut if you like fish.

Great food, great service and of course, Waterfalls! I was first introduced to Tesoro during a business luncheon a couple of months ago. We were a group of about 20 and I was so impressed by the quality of the food and the caliber of service. So, when I finally got around to taking my girlfriend to see the new Disney Hall, I thought of Tesoro. The surroundings are even more charming... ok, let's say romantic, at night and the food was exceptional. They must make their own bread because it was unbelievable! Without even asking, the server took care of our parking validation and shuttle passes to the Hall. Funny, the next day we talked more about our experience at the restaurant than the concert.

Rude Service = Bitter Dining
By sukha413 on 11/13/2005
In early October, I opened an office in downtown LA just a short walk to Tesora Trattoria. Feeling lucky to find a restaurant with decent (if uneven) food within walking distance, I thought it would be great place to entertain business associates. After four such visits in as many weeks, I stopped in for a quick bite this past Wednesday (11/9/05) and, being alone this time, sat at the bar. I have never in my life met a ruder, more objectionable bartender. Needless to say, I will not be dining here again -- either alone or with guests. I would not chance a similar experience knowing that this is the type of jerk the manager chooses to hire.
