Small-town transplants rejoice. Tarantino's may be the one Italian restaurant in this town that looks and feels just like your favorite Italian joint back home. The tablecloths are checkered and in a non-ironic way to boot. There's a lamp shaped like Spud's Mackenzie. There are even Coca-Cola chandeliers. And if the homey touches don't convince you this place isn't trying to hang with the trendy crowd, the food will. If you're looking for fusion, keep on walking. Tarantino's menu features a straightforward and hearty selection of Italian staples, including paninis, regular old pasta and of course, pizza done the classic way. Also, for those of you who may have despaired of ever tasting its down-home goodness again, you'll be happy to hear that Tarantino's actually offers Italian Wedding Soup, a staple that's become a hard-to-find delicacy in this oh-so-nouveau city. But if you're going to eat at Tarantino's, don't forget to stop by an ATM first. Alas, also like many of the old pizza joints back east, Tarantino's accepts cash only.

Average at best...
By thrdn10 on 08/22/2005
This place does not live up to it's hype. My family and I love pizza...ANY pizza really. We're not picky. But even we recognize that there's a big difference between pizza made for simply filling your tummy and pizza made for savoring. Tarantino's is good for staving off hunger, but that's about it. Their crust, I have to admit, has excellent consistency. Crisp on the outside yet doughy on the inside. It is, however, almost completely without taste. And their sauce is a thin tomato paste, at best. Quality of cheese and meat seemed to be good, but the pie was made with EVERYTHING in the middle, so all there was at the outside by the crust was their very bland sauce. The pizza is NOT cheap, as claimed in other posts. A medium cheese and a medium pepperoni came to $28. I'd happily pay this if it were good pizza. But if I'm going to get bland, tasteless pizza, I'll pay $15 with a coupon and get it from Papa John's. (Yes, Taratino's is THIS average.) All in all, this place is a huge disappointment. There are much, much better options in the SGV.

This place is the best, there's nothing on the menu that can't make a mouth water! Antipasta, florentine is to die for, and my favorite dessert the tucci calzone.
