It may be one of Los Angeles' most impenetrable -- read, always hopping -- streets, but the scene that is Sunset Boulevard is smart enough to know that it's not all about the late-night diner food. Those who refuse to live and die by chili cheese fries need options, and Talesai is one of the best. A Thai eatery within a shot-glass throw of the Whiskey-a-Go-Go and Roxy, Talesai is a local-friendly stalwart that fronts the usual fare like pad thai or cashew, curry and sundry other spiced meat (especially chicken), but also throws some tamarind seabass and filet mignon satay in to keep it unusual. The decor, arrayed with art from the area's fertile talent factory, is a conversation-starting good time, and the chances of seeing a celeb or two, especially if they're headed to a nearby performance, are not bad. With two locations across SoCal, Talesai is an arty alternative to the standard Sunset Strip food network.
