When it first opened as a collaboration between native New Yorker Chris Heyman and seasoned Angeleno chef Govind Armstrong, Table 8 replaced the sleepy French restaurant Bouchon. In 2007, the restaurant surprises again with a freshly redesigned look from visionary designer Thomas Schoos. Dark maroon and chocolate chocolate colors are offset by dramatic touches like the enormous studded chandelier (made from original Table 8 fixtures); curtains dividing dining areas provide seductively private seating. Chef Armstrong -- who practically rolled out of the crib and into his first job at the original Spago at the tender age of 13 -- augments his time-tested Cal cuisine with new and signature specialties made with farm-fresh seasonal ingredients. Tasmanian Sea Trout and Kobe beef with creamed chard are just a few of the new stars. Tempting small plates such as fried olives stuffed with chorizo make up the lounge menu, where famed mixologist Ryan Magarian whips up a fab cocktail program; some of the new libations include the Watermelon-Jalapeno Mojito and the Basil 8.

Very Nice

Absolutely GORGEOUS interior and great ambience. My date and i sat at the corner booth in the private dining area - very cozy and had a nice view of the surroundings. We both had the Kobe beef, which was okay.. but the potatoes were great. For dessert we had the peanut butter mousse brownie, chocolate souffles, and Kona coffee - the brownie is awesome!! Souffles were okay.. i've had better.. and the Kona coffee was delicious, definitely a must-try!

So good

My brother is a chef in Napa and I took him to Table 8. He is a tough critic and he liked it very much. The Corn Chowder should be illegal. Don't even get me started about the desert. I love the lounge area in back.
