Arguably the most popular eatery in Glendale, this little outdoor caf tends to be crowded even during off-hours. The restaurant has a clean, functional interior, but most of the action takes place in its inviting outdoor courtyard, with its striped awnings, expansive mural of a Mediterranean seascape and towering trees wrapped sparkling lights. This is clearly a fun place to be: Guests hop from table to table, consume enormous portions of food and, because they're outdoors, smoke to their hearts content. The primarily Persian menu is rather short-especially when compared to the extensive list of mezes (appetizers) offered at Glendale's Armenian or Lebanese restaurants, such as nearby Carousel-but almost all the dishes are exceptionally well-prepared. Kebabs rule here, and our favorites are the remarkably juicy koobideh (ground beef), herb-inflected shishlique (lamb chops) and tender chicken barg (chicken breast), all served with roasted tomatoes and a veritable mountain of saffron-tinted basmati riceu

Itis all about ambiance!
By luara65 on 06/30/2007
People don't realize that Raffi's is all about Mediterranean ambiance. I read several reviews complaining about bad service and waiters ignoring the customers. Why not to look at the same scenario from the prospective of letting customers to socialize before the meal arrives? Just like a typical European, Mediterranean eatery they let you enjoy your time with friends and family, let you relax, smoke your heart out ,and get recharged with the positive thoughts. it is a very welcoming and family oriented place. I have never seen a waiter rushing you off or shuffling a bill to your face once you swallowed the last piece of your kebab. So, if you go to Raffi’s plan to relax, take your time to eat, and enjoy a true spirit of the Mediterranean.

I like to go here on Thursdays. That's when the Farmers Market is out. I go in and order my food, leave, shop, and come back and pick it up for take out. It's true the service sucks but the food is good. So, take it to go.
