A sister franchise of the famed Mel's Drive- In on the Sunset Strip (and on Ventura Blvd), the sit-down joint offers classic diner fare just down the street from Ripley's Believe It or Not! Odditorium. Punk-rock waitresses serve up shakes and malts (don't miss the black-and-white milkshake). Breakfast offers steak and eggs, a hearty waffle and the Elvis scramble (jack cheese with green chile peppers). There are more than 10 types of burgers with favorites being the chiliburger, patty melt on grilled rye and the Sunset burger topped with avocado and crispy bacon. Blue-plate-specials change daily, but chicken pot pie, meatloaf and fish-and-chips are always on the menu. Homemade berry pies and fresh strawberry shortcake hit the spot.

The food is mediocre.. i think Denny's could give 'em a run for their money. Way overpriced and the portions are small! It wouldnt hurt to go there once just to say that you've been to "Mel's".. but i wouldnt make it a weekly staple in anyone's diet.
