A place for neo-hippies and Hollywood hopefuls alike, Luna Park is a mini-Bohemian paradise where artistic tapestries decorate the red brick walls in the glow of kitschy chandeliers and candlelight. True to a trend sweeping the culinary landscape, the restaurant offers three private, elevated booths cloaked with curtains underneath the industrialized high ceiling, kindling new passions at a location where Lucky Duck could barely muster a squawk. Luna Park continues the tradition of it San Francisco parent, pricing entrees moderately, starting at $12 and topping out at $15. With indulgent group dishes like goat cheese fondue, grilled whole artichoke with lemon aioli and the gooey chocolate and cooked-marshmallow classic, S'mores, served with crispy homemade Graham crackers, Luna Park supplies an opportunity for collaborative gobbling. In addition, there are a variety of comfort foods on the menu, from the soulful 'Pot on Fire' (a beef brisket with carrots, turnips and leeks), to the egg-battered Monte Cristo sandwich and 'Green Eggs & Ham' for brunch. Speaking of 'green,' minty mojitos are also prevalent at Luna Park, courtesy of a generously-sized bar that keeps diners almost as well lit as the interior.

Do the Math
By hestervh on 05/18/2007
WARNING! I had been to Luna Park a couple of times because I liked the decor and menu (although the menu is overpriced and somewhat limited), so I suggested it to a group of colleagues for a work lunch-- what a mistake! We got there early, before it got too crowded, but our food still took over an HOUR to arrive. On top of that, they got the order wrong the first time. But worst of all, I had requested a separate check at the very beginning to avoid any confusion with the bill since I would be paying with a credit card and the group in cash. First, we received the wrong bill. When the correct bill finally arrived the waitress said she couldn't "really" give me a separate check--it was too much of an inconvenience. Instead, she said she would just charge the amount for my meal on my card. I happened to check my bank statement a few days later to find 2 different charges from Luna Park: one for $12.00 and one for $163.00!!!! Luckily I had kept my receipt, which read $10.77. How on earth could they charge me $165 more than what I had signed for? Needless to say I spent 6 days hounding the managers (I spoke with 3), trying to get the situation corrected. They were rude, unresponsive, and avoided my phone calls. In the end, I called the credit card company and had the charge reversed. Honestly, I think the people running Luna Park are thieves. Definitely not worth the hassle.

Dishonest Management / "C" Rating
By mikequibuyen on 02/04/2005
So I dined at Luna Park in 12/04, and I noticed they had a "C" rating on their window, along with a posted explanation from restaurant, which stated that the rating was due to the method in which they serve their bar snacks.

In actuality, after checking the Environmental Health site (http://lapublichealth.org), they were cited for a total of 10 violations.

Shame on you, Luna Park, for being dishonest with your customers.
