It took two-and-a-half years of selling food from a catering truck before Alejandro and his wife had enough money to open up their own restaurant in Reseda and introduce the Valley community to authentic Mexico City cuisine. Since its opening in 1982, Las Fuentes has earned its place among the best of Los Angeles' Mexican eateries. Throngs of hungry guests flock to the small and colorful restaurant eager to wolf down menu items like beef or chicken taquitos heaped with guacamole, lettuce and sour cream, marinated pork tortas or homemade tamales. Las Fuentes also provides breakfast meals from 8-11AM, including carne asada with eggs and the standard huevos rancheros. Despite the three expansions that Las Fuentes has undergone over the years, a long wait for an order tends to be de rigeur, especially during the weekends, and a free table can be hard to come by. If you're not interested in a sit-down experience, it's generally a good idea to call ahead for pick-up orders.
