Fresh fish gorditas and grilled mahi mahi are the order of the day at Serenata de Garibaldi, an inexpensive east-side alternative to the LA dining scene's bigger fish. Quesadillas stuffed with poblano peppers and mushrooms bring crowds, as do the generous plates of seafood tacos and huevos rancheros, all seasoned with salsa, avocado, chipoltle, and an epezote-spiced moicatejete. For the culinary purists and less adventurous brunchers, there's the classic Belgian waffle, as well. The original Serenata de Garibaldi popped up eons ago in Boyle Heights, and has since spawned West LA and Santa Monica offshoots, but the Rodriguez family hospitality remains. The earth tones and natural wood interior give off elegance, but the cuisine is no less authentic. Fans of the original downtown eatery can now indulge in its Mexican elan a few steps closer to the beach. -- Jeremy Horelick

Well La Serenata didn't pay me for this rating. I have only been to La Serenata in Boyle Hgts., so I really don't know about their Pico restaurant .But I have never been dissappointed. The sauces are great and you can mix and match them with whatever seafood you'd like. The soup, which comes with the meal are to die for, zuchinni and the mushroom are my favorites. Great place to just relax and enjoy the delicious dishes. Breakfast is good too, love the swiss chard with chorizo. I think alot of other people also agree with me, never seen this place empty.

How this place got on the top 10 Mexican restaurant list is a shocker! Not only was the service poor, but the food isn't even that good. The guacamole was tiny and tasteless + the seafood dishes were weak. Don't waste your time or money on this place. The owners must have slipped AOL some money for their rating...this place is a joke!
