After serving the Sherman Oaks community bountiful breakfasts for several years, Jinky's opted to expand to the bustling Promenade district of Santa Monica (on 2nd Street, near Broadway). The Westside location offers early-rising beach bums a place to get their morning roast or nibble on scores of breakfast combos. Not an early riser? Not a problem. Jinky's serves breakfast all day; it's their specialty. But, don't expect a typical eggs 'n' bacon feast. Selections wander more toward the exotic -- they whip up breakfast staples with a twist. Choose from such concoctions as banana, macadamia nut pancakes, blueberry buckwheat waffles, vegan scrambles and feta, spinach omelettes. The menu expands at lunchtime to include California cuisine-style sandwiches and salads, all prepared fresh and served in ample portions. The interior sports a country kitchen meets the beach decor, with several tables, booths and patio dining. There's even a classic diner counter to sidle up to, as well as a coffee and espresso bar.
