Very little is lost in the translation of this design spectacle of modern technology, infused with sushi, sake and sexiness, as well as a dark vision of a futuristic Tokyo nightclub, circa 2040. Executing this well-placed, Cahuenga Corridor-adjacent restaurant/club is the Dolce Enoteca crew, whose investors include 'That 70s Show ' thespians Ashton Kutcher and Wilmer Valderrama. Inside, you may feel as if you're atop a Tokyo skyscraper because one wall is fully-occupied by a photo mural of the Tokyo skyline. Further announcing its height is the fiery red neon tower shooting straight out of Geisha's main chamber, stacking several fireplaces atop one another, highly visible from floor two. Whether you're in the tatami room with birch wood fencing or the Moon Bar upstairs with retractable roof, fewer surprises exist in the somewhat predictable blend of sushi, hand rolls, tempura and skewers on the menu. There are some subtle creative twists, however, represented by the tuna sashimi with unagi sauce and Fuji apple on crispy wonton and black cod done "Geisha House" style. Also, a twist to the cocktail norm is the Geisha Kosmo with apple sake, Triple sec, lime pomegranate and lemon. Yes, those are actual geishas migrating through the dining room, but Geisha House's other bonus feature is a series of TV sets above the bar, devoted to showing actual Japanese commercials by Hollywood A-listers.

Some Pros some cons
By beachgoyl on 02/19/2008
I went there the other weekend for my birthday and a friends birthday. We had made reservations but they kept taking us to different spots trying to seat us somewhere. They sat 5 of us at a 4 person table, so there was one less set of chopsticks and napkin. I asked them for another set, which I ************* ended up having to share chopsticks and napkin with my friend. The decor is really cool and I like the vibe, the food was amazing and they had some really unique drinks, that were also really great. Unfortunetly I would not go back, because of the people who work there. Any time we needed something our waiter would treat us like we were an inconvenience, but all we were asking for were the things he had forgotten to bring us. My friends had to ask a couple times to get a fork because they didn't know how to use chopsticks, after asking 3 times and waiting, everyone else was almost done with their meal by the time the got them. 2 of the girls ordered the same thing and everyones food came out together except one of the girls, which was odd. The weirdest thing was, we ordered Saki and they only brought 4 Saki cups, so I asked our waiter for another and he twitched when i asked him, almost as if I had asked him to do something horrible, I looked to my friend to see if she saw it or if I was seeing things, and she gave me a weird look and said she saw that too. Overall, great food, great decor, would never go back because the people who work there are incompetent and rude.

tries too hard to be cool
By guitarsandsushi on 04/27/2007
tries wayyy too hard to be that hip, hollywood cool restaurant. i go out too eat a lot and i have been in the industry and i can tell you the staff is fine, but the management is unprofessional and the food is average. i overheard one of the staff complaining about working 8 hours straight without a break, which is illegal in the state of california! dont go there if you want to see celebs , but definitely go to see the wannabes in thier favorite forever 21 outfits. oh yes, and ice on the salmon sushi was not cool. we still left over 20% to the server because we knew it wasnt her fault for the faulty restaurant.

On a Tuesday night... Arrive at 9:10pm, and told the wait is 10min. Finally seated at 9:55pm. Order three dishes (two sushi and one steak) and two drinks, and ask for the food to be brought out at the same time. 10:10pm a dish of cod is set before me. I ask why, and find out my 'Cape Cod' drink has turned into my main course. The fish is removed. 5min. later my friend's drink arrives, still no Cape Cod to be seen. 10:35 my drink arrives with a main course, which we did not order. The food is again removed. 10:45, the first of our three courses arrives (at this point we just want to see something we actually ordered, forget that we asked for them all to arrive at the same time.) I advise my friend that if the food has not arrived by 11:00pm, we are paying for what has been served and leaving the restaurant. At 1059pm (no kidding) my friend starts to laugh because the two main dishes are served. We counted two managers, and at least twelve restaurant staff, with plenty of empty tables. The food was good, but not NEAR good enough for such lousy service. If I could I would give it less than a star. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!
