Some would say the best place to let life pass you by is from the outdoor patio of West Hollywood's Clafoutis. From its tiny perch at the western tip of the Strip, Clafoutis provides patrons with prime views of the steady stream of boulevard glitz, from the twenty-somethings cruising by in glossy sports cars to the promenading, sun-drenched Beverly Hills matrons doing the designer shop hop. The neck craning tapers off the further you sit inside the bistro, which has two floors of burgundy and white-swathed tables strategically located among its unadorned timbers and artsy walls. A full bar tenders cocktails and other heady libations from an innocuous corner, while a rear entrance from the free parking lot offers an unobtrusive entry for guests. Continental French-Italian cuisine comprises Clafoutis' fodder -- with entrees such as grilled filet mignon garnished with garlic spinach, herb potatoes and brandy peppercorn sauce, playing a nice counterpart to a Penne Portofino with fresh salmon. -- Jesse Torres

Excellent Casual Dining

Consistently good food, friendly service, fair prices. Can be crowded and noisy but the staff remains attentive and unflustered. All in all, a fine hangout, day or night.

Just Okay

This place had some charm, but if you're handicapped forget easy access. Parking is in back but you have to roll back up the driveway (into traffic) to get in! The food was decent and service great, and the decor is lovely, but not anything especially unique. If you want a giant bar, however, this is the place!

Agree with the other posts; beautiful place, beautiful people. Food and service are good. And there was plenty of parking in back.
