Every seat in the house has a serene view of boats docked in the marina. The room is airy, with stark white walls accented by dark-wood beams, while a fire roars in the cozy bar area. Well-heeled families celebrating special occasions and romantic couples keep the place packed and humming. Service is professional and leisurely paced. Chef Frank Fronda's Mediterranean- and Asian-inspired dishes reflect creative blends of tastes and textures. Entrees are more inventive, like moist, blackened swordfish with grilled bananas and creamy saffron risotto. The pistachio-crusted rack of lamb and pearl pasta, pales in comparison to stars like the exceptional seafood trio: broiled Maine lobster tail, pan-seared sea bass and salmon-wrapped scallops. Don't pass on the velvety, warm, banana chocolate bread pudding for dessert.

This place SUCKS!!!
By minhlan714 on 02/19/2007
The food and service was nowhere near a four star restaurant. The food was oily and plain. The waitress was unattentive and rude. We were not notified about price change and fixed menu for Valentine's Day. On top of it all, many of the choices on the menu were unavailable near the end of the night. The price and gratuity were not worth it.

Very Unprofessional!
By orangejuicesq on 02/11/2007
My girlfriend and I made reservations two weeks in advance for Valentine's day. We asked about the menu. It was there regular menu. Three days before Valentine's day, when everything is booked up around L.A., a Cafe Del Rey rep called us and told us they decided to change the menu to $110 per person fixed menu. We told them we were not willing, on such short notice, to change. They cancelled our reservations and left us searching for a place to celebrate valentines day... VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!

The food was excellent although the service was slow. There were six of us and we were having fun so this did not upset us. We had appetizers as well as desert with our after dinner drinks and spent 2 and 1/2 hours there on a busy Saturday night but never felt 'rushed'.
