The original Sherman Oaks location of Cafe Bizou was such a hit from the day it opened that copies of the eatery were just a matter of time. The Old Pasadena edition is the second in the rapidly expanding empire of chef-owners Philippe Gris and Neil Rogers. This branch is a bit more stylish than the original, and its muted booths and banquettes, worn brick or buttercup walls and French beverage posters provide a pleasant backdrop for Rogers' modern French cooking. Signature dishes like lobster and salmon ravioli in lobster sauce, sweetbreads with potato pancakes, sesame-coated salmon on potato pancakes in red wine sauce and steak au poivre in brandy cream sauce consistently satisfy, and for a buck, a salad or soup can be added to the entree. The wine list is short, but wine buffs love the rock-bottom $2 corkage fee.

The food is decent enough, but, for the life of me, I cannot figure out why this is the most popular restaurant in the LA area. The bargain soup and corkage are a great bonus, but there is far better food at many LA restaurants.

We enjoyed the food and service. Lots of available parking. We were somewhat surprized that fine restaurant had such inadequate restrooms. They are "one seaters" so consequently you stand in line with others waiting your turn. They are located in the kitchen area and you had to dodge the waiters as they would go to and from the kitchen area. This should be addressed promply and quite annoying for such a fine restaurant.

We have gone to the Valley and Santa Monica locations. Prefer the ambiance of the Santa Monica restaurant but the food was great in both locations. Recommend it highly.
