Price Per Person: $25-$35* Kid-Friendly Perks: High chairs at some locations Blue Plate Special: Slabs of prime beef, giant fresh lobsters, tender grilled veal chops, and fresh fish entrees. Tableside preparation and presentation gets a star. The Dish: If it's a steakhouse experience you want, Morton's of Chicago has the formula down pat. Start with jumbo shrimp or crabmeat cocktails, bluepoint oysters on the half shell, or lobster bisque. Move along to Morton's spinach or Caesar salad, and then consider your options: Porterhouse steak, double filet mignon, Sicilian veal chop, whole Maine lobster, and broiled center-cut swordfish are just a few. Vegetable sides are legendary, from steamed asparagus to creamed spinach to sauteed wild mushrooms. Decadent desserts include chocolate velvet cake and sublime souffles (order with your dinner). After dinner, you can enjoy fine cigars, upscale liqueurs and fancy coffees. The Atmosphere: Morton's steakhouse formula is consistently replicated in its restaurants across America. No matter where you go, you'll find the rich and leathery club-like atmosphere, with low lighting, deep banquettes and spacious tables. Monster-sized portions, the knowledgeable, if slightly superior, staff, big drinks, buttery wines and high price tags characterize Morton's. The chain -- perhaps the leader of the upscale steakhouse genre -- competes with other top-of-the-line steakhouses like Sam & Harry's and Smith & Wollensky. -- Tracey E. Meloni *Price Per Person includes entree, drink and dessert.

NOT a place to relax
By labgolden on 09/15/2005
Our first hint was the crowd noise coming from the bar . . . then we saw that there were only 5-6 people in there. The noisy atmosphere was magnified in the dining room. Though the service and food were good, they did not make up for the high noise level and the constant flow of staff rushing past our table throughtout the meal. If you're in the entertainment business and/or have a generous expense account, this must be the place to go. However, if you're looking for a relaxing meal somewhere you can enjoy the conversation of your party, The Pacific Dining Car or Taylor's would be a far better choice.

nothing special
By elmerarana on 12/18/2004
I spent $130 bucks on two, which is kind of pricey. I ordered my steak medium-rare and it came-out rare as can be, it was literally COLD! from the inside but the second time they brought it out it was quite delicious. The service was just okay. Overall, it was good, nothing special.

Don't put a face on my food
By bkalves on 07/27/2004
Wonderful dining experience overall. Delicious and great service. Could have done without the live lobster on a plate being brought to the table! Just "tell" me the lobster is great...I don't need to see my waitress holding in the air while he wiggles around.
