Rudy's Barbershop, located in the lobby of the beautiful Standard Hotel, is not your run-of-the-mill barbershop. This chain, new to LA, has its roots in Seattle (as do all of its stylists), so you can always count on finding something different. The decor, like that of the hotel, is '50s retro-minimalist, and the shop is fresh and clean, replete with sinks at each station. Even the prices seem retro, at a low $19 a cut. Toward quitting time, watch as Rudy's fills up with body-art aficionados as the shop transforms into a tattoo parlor. To add to its multiplicity, Rudy's also doubles as a gift store, with one side of the barbershop carrying sundries you forgot to pack for your trip, and high-end specialty gifts like Comme des Garcons wallets, Burberry scarves, boxed candy and tobacco. So, for nearly all of your shopping needs in a barber shop, stop by Rudy's and you're more than likely to find something that suits your fancy!

I have to agree with the post

I've been to both the one on Sunset in Los Feliz, as well as the one in the standard. In both cases I made an appointment to hae a cut. I have gone five times to the one in Los Feliz, looking for my old barber Anthony (best guy in the world.) I had of course made an appointment with him earlier, so after waiting twenty minuites for the hipster jerk behind the counter to stop talking to the girl working with him about his latest audition, and how he wished he must me emo, I hear form this little poser that I never made the appointment with my guy, but rather with someone else who I had ever even met ! I have to ge the cut of course, especially after wasting so much time. So after a terrible cut by some girl who's younger than sperm, and used clippers only, I get up, and Anthony comes over and asks what happened to our appointment. So to put it this way: Rudy's cares nothing for the people it serves, and nothing for the people who work there. The ambiance is a perfect example of what's wrong with LA now. I grew up here, and businesses used to care for theirpatrons, people cared for people. We were all a part of something big. Now it's just a selfish, and rude, and Rudy's is the headquarters. Insult to injury

Not only did I just get the worst haircut of my life but the people at Rudy's were rude, pretentious, jerks. I get it, cool warehouse space, walls plastered with posters, potential hipsters cutting your hair. They don’t know what their doing. They butchered my hair and gave me bangs that start at the back of my head. They gave one of my friends what looks like a bowl cut and made my other friend look like an elf from Lord of the Rings. Unfortunately they think that selling prints and design magazines allows them the right to treat their customers with no service. It’s a house of horrors. Stay away.
