First opened along the Sunset Strip in 1964, the Whisky a Go Go has seen more than its fair share of music royalty spring to stardom from its small stage. In the salad days of LA's talent-riddled '60s rock scene, young fans would crowd the club to see acts like Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, the Byrds, Jimi Hendrix Experience and the Doors smashing their way into a new era of music. Over the past four decades, Whisky a Go Go maintained its position as a showcase of burgeoning new talent and gave stage time to such artists as The Runaways, The Motels, The Police, Tom Petty, No Doubt and Linkin Park, to name a very few. Today, Whisky a Go Go continues to erupt forth wave after wave of up-and-coming music acts bearing names like Bleed the Sky, Forplay, Destitute and Tourist, each vying for their own place in Sunset Strip history. The band line-up changes nightly so call ahead for performance details. -- Jesse Torres
