From the Editors
The motto at mostly vegetarian Tula Kitchen is 'Eat to live. Live to eat.' Carnivores down the road at Tellers Chop House might have a similar motto, but it would have a completely different meaning. With an interior that suggests the Mediterranean rather than Main Street, Tula Kitchen offers a respite from steakhouses and burger joints -- not to mention your cardiologist. Salads (Caesar and Asian salmon, to name two) and seafood (tuna, crab cakes, grilled jumbo shrimp) rule the menu, but a few free-range poultry options like the turkey loaf will salve your flesh-eating companions. And 'no red meat' doesn't have to mean 'no fun': Tula boasts a mean pomegranate martini, and the dessert menu includes treats like red velvet cupcakes and chocolate fondue -- a deserved reward for sparing our four-legged friends from the table. -- Jenn Gidman Zumpano (Photo: B.A. Van Sise)
