Don't ever say that you can't afford to eat well in the Hamptons. Candy Kitchen has been serving up good old American food since the 1920s. The tile floor is original, as is the stained glass, and there are public telephones and New York City newspapers for sale at the counter. The decor is so kitschy it's cool, and the food is such good value, you may wonder if they've changed the prices since 1990. Most of the sandwiches run around $6 and a full breakfast is about the same. Although Candy Kitchen may be good value, it still attracts its fair share of celebrities -- perhaps it reminds them of the golden age of Hollywood. On the back of the huge menu is a column of various fountain sodas, malts and sundaes, which are served in art-deco dishes and are the perfect way to spend an evening with your children or significant other.
