Lucille's arrives in Las Vegas by way of LA, but the recipes for its signature line of tangy sauces were first concocted in a backwoods shack outside of Greenville, Mississippi. All of the best barbecue emerged from similar dives before moving uptown, and in that grand tradition Lucille's Smokehouse Bar-B-Que kept the flavor but upgraded its surroundings. Still, the place is hardly what you'd call fancy: There are several separate dining areas under one roof sporting mismatched decor and furniture, like a boarding house that keeps adding on rooms when more deadbeat relatives arrive. Patio seating is also available. The menu is just what you'd expect from a smokehouse -- this is no place for a vegan or a calorie-counter. Favorites include baby back ribs, chicken, Angus Beef tri tip, pork chops, fresh pan blackened catfish and jambalaya. All dinners are served with a choice of two sides from a list that includes fries, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, Southern braised greens and creamy cheese grits. Burgers, salads and even a couple of pasta dishes round out the extensive menu. The peach cobbler brings every meal to a sweet finale, but even if you don't order dessert Lucille sends around complimentary Tootsie Roll Pops with the check.

Good Food
By Canth Pern on 07/27/2008
I love Lucilles. We have been going since they opened in Henderson. We have even had Thanksgiving dinner there. The food is really good. I love the biscuts, pulled pork and their sweet potatoes. Well done! I have two complaints though. One is service is hit and miss. It is either right on or you have to play search for the server. My second issue is when you have to wait outside on Friday and Saturday nights - you have to listen to the music that Lucille's pipes outside and it competes with the live band that plays at the District.

excellent

I love Lucilles friendly atmosphere and great food. There Biscuits and apple butter reminds me of when I lived in Georgia!! The Tri-Tip is the best in town! Most important iif there is a problem the manager Kevin is right there to make it right for ya, and with a smile. That's hard to find in Las Vegas. Being a local I highly recommend it to all ages.

Almost as good as my Grandmother's and Mother's cooking . . .
By AMHensley04 on 07/02/2008
and being from Maryland, that's HUGE. The food is always excellent, I always order the brisket and short rib combo with sides of mac & cheese and greens. The greens are hands-down the second best I've EVER had (next to my Mother's), and the brisket also runs a close second to my Grandmother's brisket. I've been going to Lucille's ever since it first opened, and I notice that it gets more and more crowded with people from the South and the East Coast (which is a great testament to the quality of food at this restaurant), and we all agree that this is the best "down South" food available here in Las Vegas, even the West Coast! The only critique about Lucille's is that they are paring down the choices of side items at lunch . . .they used to give the customer two choices of sides with their lunch, now they only give one. With the price the charge for even lunch, they need to bring back the policy of letting the customer choose two items as a side. Aside from that, I now have a craving for those biscuits with apple-butter sauce and a big ol' side of brisket dripping with Lucille's signature BBQ sauce (also well worth spending the $10 for a bottle)!!
