There’s a reason why Beech Street Grille consistently lands on North Florida’s “best of” lists. The food is inventive and delicious, with an atmosphere that is anything but ordinary. Beech Street Grille is smack dab in the middle of Fernandina Beach’s historic area, in a house built more than a century ago in 1889. The menu -- from appetizers through dessert -- features innovative dishes like steamed veal ravioli with over dried tomato and wild mushroom ragout, seared yellowfin tuna, steak topped with lobster butter, blackened red snapper with mango chili salsa, herb-roasted sea bass and swordfish piccata. The menu also harkens to Southern roots, with low country gumbo and sides such as cheese grits cakes with collard greens and blackeyed gravy. In addition to expertly prepared dishes and extensive array of wines, Beech Street Grille features piano entertainment. Reservations are suggested, especially on weekends when the nearby bed-and-breakfasts are filled with weekenders. --Liz Morgan
