Rate and Write a Review This casual, rustic restaurant, located on the Ross Barnett Reservoir, affords beautiful views of the water and authentic Southern food. The establishment dates back to the old riverboat days, where Cock of the Walk derived its name. In the early 1800s, when keelboatmen brought supplies down the river, they would often encounter each other and stop to compete for the honored title of "cock of the walk," basically meaning the best of the best. Today, the rivalrous spirit is gone, but the restaurant still serves some of the best Southern food around. We recommend the Cock of the Walk's signature fried catfish, which is breaded in cornmeal and fried to a golden brown.

very enjoyable!
A friend and I stopped there on the way down the Naches Trace, Labor Day 08. We both got the fish from the lunch menu, I got the fried corn on cob and she got the greens which we both enjoyed very much. The cole slaw and corn bread in the little iron skillet were both great. (our waiter fliped the bread and caught it without any problem, then cut it to serve to us right at the table) We have no complaints at all! We even thought the metel plates and cups were unique idea. It was raining the day we were there and we sat by the window and looked out over the reservour as we ate, feeling very snug. Then we started making plans to return with husbands and friends in tow, even before the meal tickets were brought to table. After stopping to take pictures of the local ducks in the parking lot, we headed out to finish our jouney home, we could not have been more satisfied with our experience. Great meal, Great service, and Great experience.... all for under $10 a ticket!!!
Good
This is a good restaurant. The catfish is good.Although I dont like the cornbread. They do ignore people sometimes. But over all its really good.
NO SELECTION - and YUCK!
YUCK!!! We ate there tonight for the first time and had chicken. I mean there were only 2 options, fried chicken or fried catfish. The other Cock of the Walk restaurants have many more options according to their menus (see Pensacola, FL). The chicken tenders were like kids meal items. The cornbread was great and the service was not bad ... but this is the weirdest restaurant I have ever been in. They had no ranch dressing for the fried pickles, no salad ... it was just the strangest dining experience and we eat out 4-6 times a week. We will NOT be back. And we wonder why Mississippi tops the chart for obese people ... they must all eat here .... fried chicken or fish, french fries, fried pickles, fried onion rings, fried hushpuppies ... yikes! Gotta go -- My arteries are clogging up now.
