In 1986, Jeff and Deb Berman opened a restaurant in Broad Ripple, hoping to introduce Indianapolis pizza-lovers to a new and original culinary style. Thanks to their pizza's ever-growing popularity, the Bermans were able to open a second location downtown in 1989. Combining eclectic flavors and ingredients from around the world, Bazbeaux's Pizza became the first in the state to offer a whole wheat crust, exotic toppings and freshly prepared sausage. Housed in a 150-year-old historic building, the downtown Bazbeaux is a bit upscale though it maintains a casual vibe. Medieval Italian murals line the walls, while local photographs decorate the wine cellar. Consistently voted the best pizza in Indianapolis, Bazbeaux's highlights include the Garden Pizza (a vegetarian's dream with artichoke hearts, avocado, spinach, green pepper, black olives and ricotta), the Pizza Alla Quattro Formaggio (delighting cheese aficionados with cheddar, ricotta, mozzarella, provolone, bacon and mushrooms) and the American-style BBQ Pizza (featuring Deb Berman's homemade BBQ sauce, barbequed chicken or shrimp, green peppers, onions and cheddar). Bazbeaux's also offers a hefty selection of antipastos, salads and baguette sandwiches. -- Allison Bloom

Charactor!

This adds somthing to the city. Not the same thing at an I-hop! Loved the way the waiter knew the menu. And would explain how they would make it. Also he shared there trade secrets. Using fresh ingrediants, cooked at the time you ordered.

Unprofessional Management
By ihearttwin2 on 07/24/2006
We expected a long wait this past friday night because they dont take reservations, but after waiting our hour and a half we were told we couldn't be seated because a few members of our party of 7 had left to go move a motorcycle out of the rain. Another party of 7 had walked in just before our time was up and they were seated ahead of us. They only had to wait 5 mintues while we'd been there for an hour and a half waiting to sit down and eat. We asked to talk to the manager because they host was being quite rude. The night manager came out in shorts and a t-shirt and told us if we didn't want to wait anymore we could just leave. His name was Chuck and he was the least professional of any manager I have ever come across. We ran in the rain down the street to the Front Page to grab a bite to eat since we were pretty hungry at this point. The manager from Bazbeauxs was in and out of the Front page 4 times while we were there eating at their place instead of his restaurant. That's just poor service in general.

dissapointed
By quiarga on 07/24/2006
I've only heard good things about this place until I tried to eat there this past Friday night. Yeah, I said tried! We were told by the night manager that (after waiting an hour and half for a table) if we didn't want to wait any longer than we should just leave. This was said after our party was told we had 15 more min to wait for our table so a few members our party went to move a motorcycle into a garage and out of the rain. They called our name just a couple of min later and then refused to seat us because we weren't all there. The guys were gone less than 10 min, but the host seated another group of 7 who had only been there a few minutes since they were all there. Ok so I understand people have company policies, and I can deal with that. But the manner in which the situation was handled was just unprofessional and extremely dissapointing. The host and night manager were rude, lied about talking to us (we called during our hour and half wait to check to see how much longer it would be), and to "well if you don't want to wait any longer you should just leave!" Seriously service like that should not be tolerated by any employee, let alone a member of management. That manager deserves to be fired.....especially since he kept showing up at the bar next door (where we ended up eating instead) while we were there. He came in at least 4 times while we were there. He should be trying to do a better job managing his restaurant to avoid situations like the one I experienced instead of hanging out at the bar next door. Or maybe he should be working there instead of Bazbeaux's.
