The Egyptian Room is an exotic -- and acoustically sound -- place to see any number of top-shelf jazz, blues and rock acts that swing through Indianapolis. Added onto the Murat Shrine Temple in 1923, the room is elegant and inviting - - albeit haunted, according to local legend. The ghost is rumored to be of Elias J. Jacoby, a former potentate of the shrine, who died while preparing for a New Year's Eve Party in 1935. Spectral figures and unexpected light shows are among the paranormal activities supposedly witnessed here -- but you can also see living legends from Tony Bennett to Insane Clown Posse.
