Ever since it entered the Houston club scene, Scott Gertner's SkyBar and Grille has maintained its status as one of Houston's coziest afterhours venues. This posh penthouse nightclub, run by longtime local musician and club owner Scott Gertner, features his own contemporary jazz/soul/funk/R&B cover band as many as five nights a week. Scott and his troupe occasionally step aside, however, to showcase local karaoke talent and some of today's most popular international jazz artists, including Tania Maria, Waymon Tisdale, Acoustic Alchemy and Kirk Whalum. For private parties, two open-air terraces make the music seem to float on the breeze -- perfectly complementing the spectacular view of Houston's night skyline. Attracting a blend of upwardly mobile professionals and groups of co-workers looking to dress up and let loose, Scott Gertner's hip heaven is on a cloud of its own. -- Felicia Griffin

My husband and I went to the Sky Bar for the first time on Saturday May 05 and we really enjoyed the band and of couse the view. There were two ladies who had a problem with each other concerning the elevator and needless to say the two ladies meet up with each other in the lobby and were fighting. Other then that. We had a blast!!!

I went to his bar July 1, 2006 and I had a blast. The music was great, the entire atmosphere was live, drinks were good, food was good (small portions) but overall it was great. I plan to go back when I visit Houston again. Just get there early since most of the tables were reserved for the VIP people but as the night progresses they open up the tables so just be on the lookout and grab it when they become available.

I came from Nigeria to New Orleans. Then, Hurrican Katrina shove me up to Houston and I needed a place to cool-off a little. Scott G bar turns out to be the right place.Though not the "bourbon street" type of thing but it ensured I had more than a welcome in Houston. The music was right and the crowd super.
