Beautiful boys have been heading to Rich's for a walk on the wild side (or at least a dance on the wild side) since the absolutely ancient (in club years) date of July 14, 1983. Through the decades, this near downtown hot spot has reigned supreme as the premiere gay dance club in Houston, spinning the best tunes, bringing in the best stars, staging the best events and attracting the best eye-candy for the dance floor -- watching other competitors for the crown come and gone, sometimes up in smoke. Incognito blank box on the outside, the bi-level disco palace creates both the right compressed dance floor lightshow vibe for sweaty prancing, combined with many a lookout for pretty boys to go trick or treating. Rich's also brings in the best stars, and their stage through the years has boasted the mega-glam voltage of Grace Jones, Boy George and Blondie-delux Debbie Harry. Fridays are more a mixed crowd, while Saturday is more pure-D queer. Plus, everyone in town know Rich's is the place to go for any holiday -- this club knows how to throw a party.
