Rate and Write a Review Toad's Place is the oldest nightclub in New Haven. Toad's has played host to some of the biggest bands in rock 'n' roll, from the Rolling Stones to Eric Clapton. Toad's is a typical rock 'n' roll club complete with tapestries of rock figures and backstage passes adorning the wall. The windows in the front of the club announce upcoming performances. The inside is dark and expansive with a stage and dance floor. There is a back room housing a bar and pool tables, and two other bars are closer to the front. Toad's Place has concerts throughout the week, and on Wednesdays and Saturdays, a DJ spins hip-hop and freestyle.Toad's is enjoyable for concerts because of its history and small size, with all parts of the club providing a good view of the performance. The dance nights play to a younger crowd and don't have a real nightclub feel, but the stage is open for dancing and people are welcome to strut across the same stage as Mick Jagger. -- John Ginnetti
