Labeled "A Pennsylvania Treasure" by the Philadelphia Enquirer, Vissagio's has been serving homemade Abruzzi fare since 1980. Step into a renovated barn for a romantic dinner under exposed beams studded with crystal chandeliers. Widely spaced tables diminish the peak-hour noise and courteous servers bring a stately progression of treats your way. No wonder so many couples, singles and families flock here. This is not the place for a hurried meal. Start with Angels on Horseback (plump oysters baked with crab, spinach and cheese), fried gnocchi, or Italian wedding soup, dotted with tiny meatballs. All pastas are made in-house, including the popular seafood ravioli. You can try several pastas in the specialty sampler, with meatball or sausage added. House specialty entrees include Elena Maria (fillet medallions with shrimp) and Zia Maria, which adds scallops. Thin and tender veal comes sauteed six ways, from simple Umberto with lemon and vermouth to Vitello Giovanni, with four cheeses and Madeira.
