Doumar's is no big deal. The quality of their food is less then your local fast food restaurant. The only thing unique about Doumar's is that offer carhops, which you don't see any more. Also, they claim to be the original inventors of the waffle cones. (Not true) Their establishment is very filthy and looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. If you are looking for a quality place to dine, Doumar's is not for you. If may be a favorite to some of the long time residents of Hamptonroads. But then again, what do they know about good food. They think Subway's is the next best thing since slice bread.

Doumar's is the greatest. We never had parking problems however we have had to wait but it was well worth it!!!!!!!!! If you are in Norfolk it is a must try.

Doumars ts a landmark - Hard to find(?) ... open your eyes... they take up a full block. Lack of parking(?) - where were you? Don't like their BBQ, guess its not sloppy enough for some. I have been going there for about 60+ years (I feel like a relative - knew them when they worked there- Think there was Abe, then Al and Vic, now Thad).... not every day, month or even year, but whenever I can work a side trip in. If you want to try a real "American tradition"... you gotta get a vanilla cone. Larry R

it is very hard to find there is a small opening on the side of A1A, out, second, there is no parking, if there is more than 6 cars in the lot, turn around, third, they take nooo credit cards, fourth, there is a minimum 2-3 hour wait for burgers or anything for that matter, fifth, the waiters are the ruddest in South Florida, may be the whole United States, the cook and the waiters hate each other, it is funny to watch,

I have taken my sons for the simple, good food there. I didn't like the bbq (none of us did) but the shakes, hamburgers, BLT's, fries and everything else are very good. No matter what you order, having a carhop recite the order verbatim without missing a beat was amazing. We gave her 5 different orders and she got everyone of them perfect. FYI - the chocolate shakes are GREAT. It's a very nice place to visit days of the past and simple, uncomplicated, good food.

I am 65 years old and have been going to Doumar's as long as I can remember. It was a favorite when I was in high school and it's still a favorite. I hope it stays for another 4 generations!

I HAD HEARD ABOUT THERE BBQ, A FEW YEARS AGO, ABOUT 3 TO BE EXACT. I DECIDED TO TRY ONE, STILL WONDERING WHY PEOPLE SAY THEY ARE SO GOOD, NO LIE, MINE TASTED JUST LIKE SOMEONE TOOK THE SAME BBQ AS IN THE STORE, MICROWAVED IT AND STUCK IT ON A BUN, NO TASTE REALY. MAYBE IT WAS AN OFF DAY OR WHATEVER, BUT I WONT DO THAT AGAIN.

I am 22 years old, and I have been going to Doumar's as long as I can remember. The food is sooooo good and everyone is always friendly. I love everything about the place, and even though I like to stay healthy and go to the gym 5 days a week, Doumar's will always be my comfort food. The food and the service is just timeless.

I am 38 and have been going to Doumar's as long as I can remember. I love the BLT's and of course the good old fashioned chocolate milkshake or the Limeaid w/ plain water! I love to smell the cones when they're making them by hand on the cone iron! Doumar's is the BEST and have many many many memories and still keep on going to have many more!
