our fave! 01/12/2007

Wonderful Elegance 05/10/2004

From the different themed salt and pepper shakers on each table to the Dark brick walls and the relaxing music. Sierra Room will cost if you want to dine out. Their menu is unique with ostrich and wild boar, but it is a must try restaraunt.

Wonderful Cusine & Service!!! 02/05/2004

Since the resturant has changed managment, and added renowned Chef Doug McConnell Oh MY Goodness what an experience! Great diverse menu and the food was incredible. A bit pricey but the portions were large and the service was top notch. Casual elegance and not a bit pretentious. A dining experience to remember and repeat!!!

overpriced and very average 12/29/2000

I recently had appetizers and desserts at the Sierra Room. After all the hype I had to try it again, however, it was just as pretentious as I had remembered it. The appetizers were boring, although the dessert presentation was outstanding. Total bill for 4 apps, 4 glasses of ave. wine, & 4 desserts was over $100! If I had just eaten at Vong in Chicago it would have been worth it, sorry - it was about two hundred miles short for me.

The Executive Chef is Unbelievable! 12/19/2000

I have visited the 'Sierra Room' 3 different times with my husband and everything about it is superb! The atmosphere is very ecclectic, the service is extraordinary, and the food is the finest I have ever tasted--this is an establishment one would expect to find in New York or Los Angeles catering to the celebrity class, but it is right here at home in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Although the prices are fairly expensive, one really gets more then they pay for. The Executive Chef, Richard, went to chef's school in New York City and is originally from New Jersey. The majority of the menu's selections are his own original 'creations' and his talent is extremely evident. His insistence that everything be of the freshest and highest quality is obvious, and I also am impressed with the fact that he strives to use organically-grown and hormone-free produce and meats whenever possible. Everything that I have tried on the menu has been unbelievable, but the seared calamari appetizer, salmon appetizer, Thai stirfry, and salads are my favorites. The menu has a distinctive asian influence, but Richard takes it to a new realm in culinary delights. This restaurant is located next to Van Andel Arena and would be appropriate even for the president of the United States. Check it out!

Are you ready, GR? 09/28/2000

Maybe a bit too upscale for the 'native' Grand Rapidian, but definitely deserving of a five star rating. Don't miss it.

Expensive and not worth it 07/08/2000

This is a popular place for client dinners and snob dinning. It was packed when we went and the hostess was extremely rude. We are willing to try odd things, but these selections were too much and not very good. For the money, you are better off at Rembrants!
I was there in 1999, but I haven't heard much has changed.

Meet beautiful people 07/01/2000

The only Grand Rapids restaurant where you can meet beautiful people in a comfortable lounge area and then have a great gourmet dinner in the restaurant. A separate secluded cigar and cognac area for those so inclined. Just added valet parking to make it easier to reach on event nights at the arena.
Come for drinks, have dinner and then stay until the wee hours. A truly great experience.

Not wheelchair friendly 05/31/2000

While the food may be good, don't count on being able to 'wheel' right in. THe only accessible entrance is through a back door that is locked. Don't even think you can go into the bar and have a drink...the tables are high with no low ones. Even though I love the food, I've stopped patronizing them for this very reason.
